RESIDENCE AT METS
Design: Sotiria Chaldezou
The METS project is about the design of a house which is located in a quiet neighborhood in the center of Athens. As part of the house coexists a small law firm.
The study proposes the development of the house in the form of "L" in order to form an introverted yard around which the spaces of the house revolve. The house is divided into three main functional units:
-
Living room: living area for family members
-
Kitchen: meal preparation area
-
Personal spaces for parents and children
The L shape and the natural slope of the site enables the above separate functional units to be arranged in different levels for greater autonomy.
Spatial integration is achieved through the staircase, which plays a central role in the overall synthesis. The staircase assists the smooth flow of the functional units, while allows for visual continuity, it stands out from the main body of the house and it fuctions as a single ribbon, which unrolls in order to integrate all the functional units.
